DTF Basics Questions
How long do DTF Prints last?
DTF prints are designed to withstand repeated washing and everyday wear. Printed on a professional printer and with proper application and care, DTF designs will outlast most printing methods. Making them ideal for workwear, uniforms and casual clothing.
What materials can DTF be applied too?
DTF actually works on a wide range of fabrics, Cotton, polyester, blends, nylon and even performance fabrics.
How do DTF Prints feel?
DTF prints are known for their soft and comfortable finish. Unlike certain printing methods that create heavy or ridged designs, DTF prints are thin and will embed into the garment fibres, giving them a soft comfortable feel that will move with the garment without cracking or peeling.
Is DTF Expensive?
Owning your own DTF printer can be expensive. However, ordering your DTF prints from a professional like DTF Print Online makes it one of the most cost-effective methods of printing your garments. The ability to have prints in either small or bulk quantities as and when you need it means you don’t have to sacrifice on quality.
Does DTF require special equipment?
By letting us (the professionals) do the printing for you, takes away the need for
specialised complex machinery. All you need is a heat press and depending on
your business (or project) needs this can be as big or as small as you require.
How vibrant are DTF colours?
DTF printing offers incredible colour vibrancy, capturing the smallest details with precision.
Artwork Questions
What format should my artwork be in?
- PNG/PDF – Your file should be uploaded as a PNG or PDF file, although EPS, AI, JPG, SVG are also suitable.
- 300dpi – Your file should be created with a minimum resolution of 300dpi for the best quality prints. If your artwork is of a low resolution, it may be pixelated or semi-transparent, this may result in unwanted areas of white showing through on your final print.
- Transparent background – Ensure your gang sheet does not contain a white (or coloured) background, any background left on your gang sheet will be printed.
- Un-Mirrored – Our software does the work for you, send your files as you wish the resulting print to be viewed.
What size should my artwork be in?
- 1m: 100cm x 58cm
- 0.5m: 50cm x 58cm
- A3: 420mm x 297mm
- A4: 297mm x 210mm
How can I get a true colour?
- RGB – Create your image using a RGB colour mode.
- Colour profiles - DO NOT embed colour profiles in your image.
- HEX FFFFFF – colour code for pure white.
Can my artwork have fade-outs, shadows or semi-transparent pixels?
No. Every pixel is printed with a white underbase, which means fade-outs into the garments natural colour will not give you the effect you desire. However, if you were to apply a filled shape as a background which would contain your fade/shadow, this would work well.
What can I do if my image quality is poor?
Unfortunately, editing resolution after artwork has been created will not improve your image quality. However, in most cases we can help you fix or recreate your artwork your artwork for a small fee. Please get in contact before placing your order.
Can I print any image?
If the image is not your own, you must have permission or the rights to print the requested image. When placing your order you will be asked to tick the acknowledgment box to confirm that you own or have permission to use the image. We cannot take any responsibility of checking image ownership.
DTF Application Questions
Should you peel DTF transfers while they are hot or cold?
DTF transfers can be peeled while they are hot or cold, depending on the type of transfer film, type of garment wand personal reference.
How do you know if you have pressed DTF transfers for too long?
If you press DTF transfers for too long, it can cause the transfer to become brittle, crack, or peel off the fabric. Here are some signs that you may have pressed DTF transfers for too long.
What Temperature Should DTF be Pressed?
Generally, most DTF transfers are pressed at temperatures between (135°C to 145°C). However, it's essential to refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for the specific product you're using, as temperatures can differ.
